Our goal was the Mulkey Shelter which is four miles up trail. What we didn't anticipate was the trail not being open past 1.75 miles. We went anyway. There was a trail crew working on the closed section, which is approx. 3/4 mile long.

They welcomed us on through, at our own risk, so away we went.

This section slowed us down.....okay, it slowed ME down...lol. Having got a late start @ 10:30am, and dinking around taking pics, not figuring the rough part of trail, was the reason we decided not to reach the shelter this day.

It was a GORGEOUS day, beautiful forest, the best companions! And, we made it out in time to catch a sunset pic at the lake.

That was a great snowshoe a couple of years back. I think it has been closed since then. Hope they get it done this year...still hoping for a snowshoe...
