Had about a 3 hour window total door to door so headed up to the old standby. Threw in the microspikes just in case.

I didn't start hiking till after 11AM so it was starting to warm up.

Started to see a little evidence of snow around 1000 feet but no traction issues.

At the viewspot a few slippery spots, but stayed with the trail running shoes sans traction.

Below the South Launch Point I opted to take the short cut since it looked sun exposed thus not icy. That was the case. All melted out (unlike on the way back the real trail in the trees was icy in places).
Junction below South Launch Point ~ 1555 feet. Took the steep trail up. Since in the sun, not icy.

The last 20 feet or so to Poo Poo point were the slickest spot. Still made it without adding traction devices.

The road looked a little icy to drive up but walking down was easier than the mess in the woods.

All in all a good short trip to try and keep in some semblance of shape in the winter. Never did use the microspikes but almost put them on in the woods below the south launch point on the way back. I suspect if I had started hiking at my more normal time around 8AM I would have used spikes somewhere around 1000-1200 feet up.

Great pics as usual. I was a few hours behind you with my wife and youngest daughter today. Very nice day for a stroll.

If not now, when?
