Unless it helped with efficiency I wouldn't use a contraption in the backcountry to speed up boils (the Reactor is still plenty fast, even on its last legs).
Yeah, with the ultra fast Reactor, it's not like it needs a lot of help.
If you were out in cold weather, at least below 20F at sea level and then about 2F colder per 1000 feet above that, then the water bath trick can be really handy, particularly towards the end of the life of the canister when all the propane is gone and you're down to only your secondary fuel component (which is why you should avoid "plain" butane in cold weather).
