Impressive HR as outlined. How was the section behind despair?

Only a trip report like this one can make me drop everything else and sit down and study for a half hour. It's a wonderful area and now I'm even more anxious to return. Thanks for sharing all the pics and beta. Awesome job to everyone who was involved.

Did you say that you did the west route on Triumph?? Did you write a TR? Or is this a plan for the future?

Yes, I drink black tea. Specifically Earl Grey.

There's a very steep drop for about 400 feet down the gully on the far side of the Despair notch, which we did on rappel, then glacier travel around the back side of Despair, with one more relatively steep slope to descend to get onto the end of Mystery Ridge.

Wow, what a photo... I have contemplated this route for awhile but had heard the gully was difficult. Did you use two ropes and how was setting up the belays? I have also heard the brush into Despair was despairing?

Thanks for the great TR. A group of us successfully repeated your adventure last Saturday: http://nwoutdoorgrrl.com/2012/04/12/hellfire-or-salvation/
