My son and I hiked the Snowgrass Flats Jordan Basin Loop on 7-29-12 to check out the snow levels for a backpacking trip the next weekend.
The snow level is still pretty high in the Snowgrass Flats area and to Goat Lake and along the Goat Ridge. A lot of side kicking steps along the snow covered trail. We decided to scrap our backpacking trip for the next weekend and wait until later in August or Sept. Just too much snow now. It really wears you down slipping and sliding over all the snow banks. But it was a beautiful day.
If you decide to go bring trekking poles and ice axe/self arrest skills wouldn't be a bad idea idea either. Waiting until more snow melts isn't a bad idea either...
