We think we made it to Lake Ann. In fact while standing a few feet from the lake, we actually had someone ask us where the lake was, and he didn't believe us when we said it was right there. Really.
Visibility about 100 feet or less all day, except a couple of minutes.

Weather was 45 degrees and foggy at the start of the day.
It was 48 and foggy by the end of the day. Not much range.

John was not real convinced we were near Mt Baker or near a lake. I was trying to figure if it was worse knowing what we were missing or not believing it was there.
The valley was an easy cruise.
Stepping stones.

We did the climbers approach to Curtiss glacier, past the first dicey spot, contemplated the second dicey spot and figured it wasn't worth the effort to go further. Of course as soon as we turned back, the weather cleared for literally only a couple minutes, before closing up again.
Odd thing was the smoke from all the forest fires was very apparent both visually and by smell, when the fog lifted, but the smell went away when the fog returned.

6 hours was a lot of driving for a couple minutes of view. Oh well, when you gamble on Northwest weather, it's bound to be a dud from time to time.

Well this was the first time I had hiked anywhere in the Baker area. At least I got enough to wet the appetite for more, I mean it's only like 3 1/2 hours and 150 miles from my house.

We were the couple that crossed paths with you guys on the trail to Lower Curtis glacier and at the lake! It was our first time on the trail and we were scouting for a backpacking trip.

Did you ever find the lake?
It was John's first time on this trail too. I knew where the lake was from previous trips, but he didn't really believe me until it cleared up for a few minutes so he could just barely see it.
That was some intense fog!
