Huskies get the overall #8 seed and host 1st and 2nd round games. But they are in the same region with Nebraska...again. AGAIN. Every freaking year it seems like. Selection committee likes to play games, this can't be coincidental. Wouldn't face them til the Regional Final (winner is in the Final 4), but it's in Lincoln, NE. This seems awfully familiar. Oh yeah, same exact thing last year.
Washington St. gets their first appearance in quite a few years, nice for the Cougs.

Huskies play tonight approx. 7:30, on Pac 12 Network. The Husky football team is playing a big game tonight, but I'll try to catch part of the volleyball action. 1st round opponent should be cannon fodder, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. 2nd round should be much tougher, either Kentucky or Colorado St.
Washington St. won their 1st round match 3-1 against Marquette. Currently down 1-0 playing at the #3 seed Wisconsin, tough test for the Cougs. Kept it respectable in the first set. Game is on Big 10 Network.

UW won their first round match fairly easily after a bit of a rough start.
Tonight they swept Kentucky. Jumped out to big leads in all 3 sets. Let UK back into it in set 1 and 3. Absolutely blew them off the floor in set 2.
Onward to the 3rd round in Lincoln, NE. Next opponent is a familiar one--Arizona. The Huskies beat them twice this year, but should be a tough opponent.
4 Pac 12 teams in the Sweet 16. Stanford and UCLA also advanced.

Huskies up 2-0 against Arizona and seem to be in control in the 3rd set. The earlier match in that region, Penn St. was up 2-0 but Nebraska came back to win 3-2. So...looking like the Huskies are going to face Nebraska in the tournament for the 3rd year in a row. Complete repeat of last year, regional final on Nebraska's home floor. The selection committee needs to do a better job.

Dawgs sweep! Hit nearly .300, held Arizona to just over .100. HUGE advantage in the blocking department, looks like that's where the match was won. On to Nebraska...again.

Stanford and UCLA also advanced, so 3 Pac 12 teams in the Elite 8. Also 3 Big 10 teams. Gonna be 3 Pac 12-Big 10 matchups in the regional finals, Big 10 teams are higher seeded and hosting in all 3 cases. Hopefully at least one Pac 12 team can pull an upset.

Dawgs getting destroyed. Down 2-0. Only scored 16 and 10 in the first 2 sets. Getting outhit about .500 to .000. Not a good showing. They are better than this. Sad ending to an otherwise great season. And I'm sick and tired of facing Nebraska in the Tournament (4 out of the last 5 years according to the broadcast today).

Well at least they made it respectable in the 3rd set, 25-21. From what I watched early on, they just weren't ready to compete. I can't understand that. They weren't digging balls they normally wouldn't have trouble with, blocking was ineffective, passing was bad. Nebraska is certainly a better team, but Huskies didn't play anywhere close to what they are capable of today.

Stanford comes back from 2-0 deficit to beat Wisconsin 3-2! Glad at least one Pac 12 team is gonna represent in the Final 4 and maybe quiet the Big 10 fans at least slightly on their declared superiority.

UCLA got swept by Minnesota. They battled hard, but came up a bit short. Final 4 will be Nebraska vs. Texas and Stanford vs. Minnesota in the semifinals.

After the past few years, Nebraska is in their heads. Another season ends at the hands of the Huskers.

The Huskies seem to have a habit, when they lose in the playoffs, they don't leave any doubt. They lose badly. Go down without much resistance. I'm reminded of the matchup in the Final 4 against Penn St. several years ago. PSU's setter went on a long scoring run from the service line in the first set, and UW was just DONE after that. Game over. It was the first set, but they couldn't bounce back.
I was just talking about this to someone yesterday. I don't think the program has had that fiery leader who refuses to lose and can will her team to victory since Courtney Thompson used up her eligibility. They've had plenty of really good players, but they've needed a bit of something else at various times.

Stanford beats Minnesota 3-1 and advances to the National Championship match next! Await the Nebraska-Texas winner.
It seems like it's been a given all season that Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin were the 3 best teams in the country and many assumed 2 of those 3 teams would be battling it out for the Championship. Stanford didn't get the memo, have taken out 2 of those in their last 2 matches. This puts a serious chink in the "Big 10 is clearly superior to everyone else" point of view.
