I'm not always sure I like being older but being less stupid has advantages. http://www.flickr.com/photos/32121172@N00/sets/

I can't believe you saw a moose in that area. Which ridge was it on?
I've added the video. The moose was on the ridge southwest of lower Snowy Lake and then when we were leaving it had dropped down into the outlet creek drainage. Thanks for the correction on Porcupine Peak. I hope to meet you and Cartman some day.

Hey Gimp -- nice to somewhat meet you. smile.gif
If I had known it was you at the time I would have introduced myself. After we parted ways I asked Colleen if you two were from NWH and then I felt silly. doof.gif

Excellent trip report and pics. There's a moose in Thunder Basin below Park Creek Pass this year as well.

The photographically documented moose sightings are a plus to my credibility with a certain wife unit and various skeptical peers. In October 2010, I saw a cow moose cross SR 20 near the Easy Pass turn off. Before I could fish my camera out of my kit, Ms. Moose vanished into the woods north of the highway. So my claim of a moose sighting was not accompanied by the proof required to firmly convince certain people of its veracity. Thanks for providing independent confirmation of a remarkable thing.

Looks like a sweet trip me and rob were contemplating instead of our trip up Black. At this point, looks like it will have to wait for 2013. Anyways congrats on your 30th! up.gif

KarlK, this July I saw several piles of marble-sized gray droppings just on the other side of Easy Pass.

Thanks so much for sharing the moose photos and footage. That must have totally made the trip.

Two years later… I just saw this report. Really surprising to see a moose up on the dry rocky ridge! We saw one in the same area just two months before your trip, but down in the Swamp Creek drainage as we were heading back up to Granite Pass. It was a different one because yours was a bull, we saw a cow. I wonder if these two ever got together. I heard that summer that in addition to the one up the Thunder Creek drainage there was another on the other side of Park Creek Pass in the Stehekin drainage. Makes you wonder how many are out there. Sitings sure are not common. Swamp Creek moose 800 ft below the PCT:

Moose have been seen around Lake Ann. I know Magellan saw one there a few years ago. I've seen tracks there but have not seen one myself. We did have a moose in the yard this week here at Beyond Lost 7 miles NW of Mazama. First sighting this year for me.

I had a young female through my yard - just off the valley bottom a couple miles below Twisp - one morning last week. Other people have seen them hanging around down low along the Methow River this summer.

Up until about a year ago there was one wandering around the Teanaway. Sadly it got hit by a vehicle.
