As I was putting my boots on for a morning hike the phone rings. It was Wildernessed on the other end saying he and Steve were heading up Horse Lake Mt (aka Twin Peaks) above Wenatchee and wanted to know if I was interested. That sounded better than yet another Saddle Rock trip so I signed on. It was a snow hike but not deep enough to warrant snowshoes or even micro spikes. We took the road up and were amazed at how little evidence we could see of the major fire that had ripped through there just a couple months ago. Some burned spots but not the moonscape we expected. After a leisurely lunch we then came down a more direct route on the mt. bike trail. Nice hike, good to get out with the peak guys again. Thanks for the invite.

It's always good to get out with these guys, we hit it right and had blue skies and sunshine the whole day. Steve had 22 degrees at house in the a.m., but with low humidity and calm winds it felt warm.

On the Eastern summit the Enchantments, and to the North were pretty well concealed, with some clear sections in the Teanaway area. As we ate lunch we watched an inversion moving up from the South.

Still surprised at the lack of devastation from the wildfire, but happy. Great effort on the part of the people involved in suppressing it.

up.gif I sure do miss hiking and biking in that area , That burn on the east side of Cle elum went right through my good friends property . He past away a few years back frown.gif he is the one who helped get me in to SAR and I loved his off the grid life style . I love the Ellensburg area and did the taenum as soon as the snow would melt tongue.gif super great post and I am envious of your hike , but I will be over this cold by this weekend so I will get out too agree.gif

I've been using this one since last year, part of cutting weight / size, and accessibility on the fly. It's a compact, Canon PowerShot SX 260 HS, the smallest camera I have ever had.
