I'm really glad folks are enjoying the TR; I sure loved the destination! Hager Mtn. has been the best winter rental experience so far: picturesque views, amenities, reasonable approach, no snowmachines, woodstove, non-plexiglass windows. The drive was a bit daunting, especially for winter, but that was part of the experience.
I noticed the addition of a label to the Fort Rock photo; any interesting background to add to "Grandma's grave"?

That is the Silver Lake Cemetery where my wife's G Grandmother is buried. Her family homesteaded in the area and we have been digging into the local history.

Wonderful report and photos. I felt both the cold and warmth in your fine photography.

Yes, I second and third one of the best reports in a long time. Wood stove sure was nice.

A sure sign of a superlative trip report, is that it has me reflecting on it and re-reading it. :-)

Even though I was there, somehow writing a TR connects me to the experience more deeply
This TR took longer than most due to the volume of photos I had to process and winnow-down. It is gratifying to translate the trip into a meaningful armchair experience.
I'd have to agree that the woodstove was central to making this destination so cozy for both man and dog (hauling & splitting wood; it warms you twice)

These are the trip reports I patiently wait for while picking through gear gripes and trail rants. Your photos, video and thoughtful retelling of the experience creates a TR haven in the winter storm of battling banter that often piles up in the forum once the snow falls. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
