I have always been suspicious of the angel Gabriel. He is always portrayed as white too. Coincidence? paranoid.gif

How ironic, I just finished listening to Catch Bull at Four (Boy with a moon & star on his head) after the midnite horse & dog chores. been a Cat Stevens fan since 1973, current politics will never change my appreciation for his music. Ya I think a youthful Cat Stevens could do a stand in for JC and I don't think JC would mind a bit. wink.gif

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Maybe they just need to change his image a little, everybody knows that a simple tunic and sandles won't cut during a Montana winter. Give Jesus a little flannel and a woodman axe and he'll fit right in. smile.gif Paul Bunyon

funny read, Kim- all those people gettin' their panties all wrapped up in a bunch about a plastic Jesus statue. could be a hell of a lot worse. now, if it was a a creepy 26-foot-tall plastic rabbit I could understand all the commotion.

How about a Flying Spaghetti Monster statue?

Some people have better things to do with their lives than walking the dog. Some don't.

Good point ski, heh heh. Imagine the christian panties about a state-sponsored mountaintop muhammed. Allah (mailbox) akbar!

We've had similar controversies in this area. These stories were featured in the "Past Time" section of the Snoqualmie Valley Record.
Quote:
Thursday, Aug. 7, 1958 Friday morning, Aug. 1, a telephone call from Mrs. William Ryba caused the North Bend office to turn detective and try to solve the mystery of “who climbed the lofty heights of Mount Si and erected what looks to be a 15-foot white cross on the summit of the haystack? Sure enough, there it was, facing east and west and gleaming white against the sky. Thursday, Sept. 4, 1958 The white cross erected atop Mount Si has probably caused more comment than any other incident which has occurred in the Valley, with the exception of the now-historic parachute leap from the top of Snoqualmie Falls. Mountain gazing has been on a par with Sputnick-spotting since the cross mysteriously appeared July 30. Amateur sleuths uncovered the identity of the man who lugged the heavy timbers and ready-mix cement up the mountain: Dr. Valentine Skirgilia, who had the help of his 13-year-old son Teddy and brother-in-law Richard Siskin of Seattle. The doctor, a Lithuanian refugee now serving with the Air Force in Fort Campbell, Ky., said the project was undertaken out of gratitude “for the Lord and this wonderful country.”

Agreed. Such things only seem to be an issue when its a Christian ornament.

I like the Flying Spaghetti Monster idea.
