Great report and some amazing pictures! I've eyed Pyramid a few times for a possible splitboard descent...looks like a LONG haul in though.

Just a few pics to add as a participant on this fabulous trip . . . who would have known that the temperatures on the summit of Mt. Rainier on January 21 would be warmer than Seattle - for the first time EVER in recorded weather history???
A fabulous weekend to be out and filling your lungs with mountain air. Thanks, Matt, for organizing!

I added the rest of the report to my original post above. Unfortunately, I didn't get many photos on the last couple summits. Hopefully others can add some more. Also, did anyone get a good photo of the lineup of people on the dinner bench?

Thanks to Matt for the informative and entertaining trip report. It was certainly an amazing weekend in January - one not likely to be repeated very often!
For some reason, I have a lot of pictures of Mt. Rainier, but since they look pretty much like the other pictures of Mt. Rainier I'll add some pics of the people on the trip. The company was a major component of what made this trip so much fun!

A great weekend for a winter overnight trip! No wind, warm (REALLY warm), temps, and glorious sunshine!
I have snowshoed/camped on Mt. Ararat before, and really wanted to do this trip as a ski tour, but conditions dictated snowshoes/crampons.
Snow conditions encountered:
(All usually within 500yards)
Breakable crust
Unbreakable crust
ice
Windpacked powder
Slush
Wind painted Sastrugi
Surface Hoar
trace amounts of sheltered powder
Corn
Coral Reef
Thanks for organizing Matt - and the great company by all !!
Lindsay, Suzanne, Matt and Barry digging the kitchen romance on Ararat summit temp 66 degrees! Lindsay wanders the vast summit of Iron wind patterns
