Well, not really but after my workout on the trail this morning I left disgusted and disappointed with the amount of trash that was left on the trail. I am sure this was the aftermath of the weekend warriors due to sunny days on the weekend. There was USED (brown stains) toilet paper all over the place right on the trail. My god, are people taking shits right on the trail? On the splinter trail leading up to the south launch, there were beer cans, empty water bottles and more toilet paper along with lighters, childrens toys, plastic bags, paper bags, more toilet paper and the list goes on and on! I need to make a habit of carrying a trash bag and some surgical gloves so that I can take the trash off the mountain on my descend. Karma is a biotch people!

There are Honey Buckets at the trailhead AND an outhouse at the top, yet people still feel the need to poop on the trail along those 1.7 miles?

Dammit, where's that lazy old geezer who's been maintaining the trail?
Sleeping on the job, no doubt!

On the bright side, anyone who has the urge to let their dog off leash on the Chirico trail will quickly realize the error of their ways....if their dog is anything like mine, who homes in on human poo like a guided missile and thoroughly "perfumes" himself with the stuff.

Worse...I once caught my dog eating out of a dirty diaper someone had left on the trail to Oyster Dome.

I was disgusted by the mess left at the toilet at snow lake last year. there was underwear hanging in the bushes as well as tp. and is it really that difficult to pack it out?

An array of hidden game cams is the answer. Then print some of the photos and post them at various trailheads as warnings to the humiliation people will risk if they venture to be a surface-pooper. Of course this might not work for the hopelessly shameless.

sh*t happens -- perhaps it is time to add a "blue bag" station at the trailhead -- they have bags for dog poo on the popular trailheads (e.g. RedTown) and humans are expected to "pack it all out" on Mt Rainier, St Helens and Mt Adams.
