I connected with Adam and Natasha for a short day in the mountains, yeah right! 14 hours car to car with over 6,000' of gain isn't exactly "short". Great trip despite the march to Surprise being much longer than the .7 on my GT map from Surprise Gap. The traverse to Spark Plug sucked too. At least we got the biggest and the most fun peak (Mac) done early before we got too tired and cranky (me). Anyway, enough with the babble, here's some eye candy!

up.gif Nice. I was in there a few years ago planning to do Spark Plug and Surprise. My partner was recovering from an ankle injury which was aggravated from doing Spark Plug so we limited the trip to that peak and Surprise / Glacier lakes. Spark Plug lake pretty scenic as your pic shows.

Wow, interesting entry point. How is that road and trail? I'm interested in it as an alternative way to get to Marmot/Jade lakes.

The road was really good with only a few big potholes to dodge. It's a long and winding road, prepare for a 30-45 minute drive in. The Deception Creek Cutoff Trail is very well defined and seems to get a decent amount of traffic.

Didn't know it was possible to drive in that far. Great route - I may try for Mac (only) someday. Not a glutton for punishment.
