This hike was on a portion of the PCT that headed south from Carson Pass, a major highway recreation pass in the Central Sierra. Round Top and lakes around it are akin to hiking the PCT north out of Snoqualmie Pass. Busy at the start and the quieter as you go. My destination was a 6 mile easy walk to a place called Lost Lakes.

I scampered up The Nipple 9342' for evening colors and a sunset. A surprising awesome sky it turned out to be.

Thursday it was simply: turn around and retrace steps back to Carson Pass walking up Pt. 9374 and Elephant's Back 9585 because they are so close to the trail and the views are great.
Round Top morning the lakes from Pt. 9374 Deadwood Peak Cool looking scramble! Round Top afternoon
It's been a lot of hiking in the past couple weeks so I am doing nothing for a couple days. Hopefully a trip to the Ruby Mountains in east NV followed by some time in the Yosemite/High Sierra eventually!

Nice. I must admit that CA might rival WA for beauty and diversity of mountain scenery, but more spread out. And much farther from the population centers.

Thanks for keeping the reports coming. Having information like this available for future reference is one of the great parts of nwhikers.

They'd call this a tease if it were the six o'clock news.

Ooh, pressure's on! I better follow through. That's a good motivator, Abert, thanks!
Puzzlr, we have it over this part of CA/NV for sure. I miss our vegetation diversity, it seems a bit sterile here. I have formulated a theory that a contributing factor to the bear issues down here is not just ignorant people, but the lack of natural food availble to them as well! Unlike our endless roots, berries, ants, greenery, etc up in the Cascades.
Now, for when I get to the High Sierra, I may change my opinion a bit about the spectacularness of this place. Definitley fun for a summer.
