Location : West of Entiat. SW of Ardenvoir, Wa.
Access : SR 97 > Entiat River Rd. > Mad River Rd. > FR 5801
Maps : GTM - Cashmere / TOPO
Stats 12 mi, 2500' r/t
Roaring Ridge
Roaring Ridge is a plateauish type ridge higher up which hooks into Moe Ridge, then onto Entiat Ridge to the North of Chumstick Mountain. The lower road is steep, full of ruts, and erosion so a higher clearance AWD / FWD would probably be a necessity. The ridge is different than we thought for the area being heavily forested with impenetrable trees and brush down low, however it looks like there is quite an effort higher up to clear out the understory.
I used TOPO to plot the trip, but many of the roads shown do not exist now which had us cutting through the woods, and there are new roads which are not on existing maps. For us it was a place in the area we hadn't been on, and the highpoint of the ridge is an officially recognized point / peak.
We followed FR 5801 for the most part which held a few inches of snow, a long with ice as it wrapped around the convoluted terrain. The summit area had a small pile of rocks and some interesting views.
Steliko LO Pyramid - Graham ? Tyee Ridge Cashmere Roaring Creek far below. All views were obscured by air pollutants and cloudy skies. Big C Looking right into Rock Lake Basin and Rock Peak. Howard and Mastiff Sugarloaf Last week down, this week synthetic, Montbell Therma Wrap UL parka and pants. The North side of Chumstick. Steve looking at our earlier trip up Roaring Creek nearly 3k' below. Stormy The three 7k' peaks a long Four Mile Ridge.
We had a quick lunch break, looked down into Roaring Creek nearly 3000' below us and headed back. Nice trip, great exercise.

You captured some great shots of the surrounding peaks. Have you done Stormy? I'd like to get up there some day.

We have done Stormy from every direction, multiple times. As you can imagine once the storms come down it is really buried. In the Spring the whole area melts out early down below allowing access from the South as early as March. Right now you could probably drive to 4k' and make the summit without snow shoes. The summit is huge and plateauish, with open views 360. Very nice spot.

Looks like it turned out a great trip. Too bad this did not happen when you proposed it last week. I was ready to sign on.
