The Ghanians are big and fast and athletic. If we can control the ball a little bit through midfield and have Michael Bradley dish some chances to Dempsey/Altidore upfront we might do ok. If they play really close, hard tackling in midfield, we will start the ole USA gun-and-run long ball up front looking for a lucky knock down, defend like Alamo, and lose by a goal or two.

Germany vs Portugal - ouch! Don't know if this is good or bad for the US. On the bright side, Portugal will not have Pepe (and maybe the other starter that was injured) when they play the US. On the not so bright side, Portugal will be desperate for a win against the US.
Iran vs. Nigeria - meh, unimpressive. Good for Iran getting a point.

Hope the Altidore injury doesn't hurt our chances to attack a diminished Portugal defense ( Missing two of the four starting back line for game 2 ). We may be able to pull out of the group of death w/ a couple draws as well. Bring on the tournament

What an ugly, ugly game for the US. Only Howard and Germaine Jones played at all well, yet somehow they won. It is great that they won, but they did nothing to further the poor reputation of US soccer. It will take a lot of luck to get any further.

That was really ugly for the US.
I was amazed at many of the poor passes Bradley did.
I will have to say, Beasley was doing well.

I suspect that the,USA will need to win a half dozen world cups before people from the Euro zone don't just write it off as a fluke.

They just need to play as if they are not deer caught in the headlights. Did they not look half-dead to you? The last world cup team led by Donovan held their own better. I would take Beasley out and put in anyone else. Ghana routed all attacks through him, as he is obviously the weakest player on defense.

Then they didn't, in fact, outplay the US.

Outplay and outscore are two different things, sometimes.
