Thank you for the nice comments Jim and db. I was using a Nikon D7000 with a Nikon AF-S 300mm f/4 with a 1.4 TC.
This sow had 3 COYs (Cub of Year) and was photographed around Twin Lakes close to Norris. They were on one side of the 2 lane road while a group of us were on the opposite side taking the pictures. I'd guess about 70 feet away at the time. The park rangers showed up very quickly and did a great job in managing the people until the bears left the scene.
You can see all my Yellowstone pictures right here.
A few months back up on Lemei Rock SW of Mt Adams. About an hour later full overcast rolled in and it dumped for a number of days up there.
Taken with a Panasonic Lumix LX-5 w/ a DMW-LWA52 wide angle lens. More details here.
I'm sure there's some Photoshop foo to be applied here but I don't yet have an eye for it.

I love these threads each year. Some awesome shots in here as always. I don't think this is technically the best I took but I love it for a few reasons.
It was a great trip (Death Valley NP was planned, had to make alternate plans last minute due to shutdown but it worked out great.) It was a photo I had been thinking about getting for awhile. Lastly, it was the first time I had really used the 'The Photographers Ephemeris' to setup a shot.
This is the moon setting over Channel Islands NP:
Wow.... Truly spectacular shots by all!!
I too have been recovering from an injury, so no hiking for me this year...
I did get into night photography - lotsa sitting on your duff. I also found that I really enjoy the artistic and very technical aspect of shooting stars.
I drove out to the Stonehenge memorial out by Goldendale and got a pretty good star trail - prob my best photo all year.
