Juan de Fuca's Strait by Barry Gough plies the waters that Europeans encountered with Spanish and British sailings. Dr. Gough who lives in Victoria has intensely researched the book. Many quotes from the log records of James Cook, Francis Drake, Manuel Quimper, and George Vancouver among others serve to buttress the text. If you like Northwest maritime history you will want to read this. Plus with the King County Library you can read it for free.

It was fun to read the lyrics. The Lady Washington in the song is a replica of the original Lady Washington which was the first American vessel to make landfall on the west coast of North America in 1788.

William Pint & Felicia Dale are local. They have made a lot of excellent recordings of maritime music. The Wreck of the Lady Washington (a true story) is, of course, to the tune of Greenland Whale Fisheries.
