Usually, when I buy a item with the words....Some Assembly Required I go to the store manager and offer to buy the store model. If that fails, I offer $25 over the asking price. If that fails I take a pass on the item. Those store managers know the time it takes to assembly those items and they don't want somebody wasting the stores time and money!!
So I looked at a simple, small garden shed at Costco that stores garbage cans. How long can it take to assemble a simple, small garden shed?? I bought it....came home and looked up assembly instructions on UTUBE. Not good news...a good review by a handyman for the shed, but it took him FIVE hours to assemble the shed. Hey, it only took me SEVEN!!!
So should they be required to change the wording?
Assembly Required....PROBABLY will take most of the day!!!

An approximate assembly time on the box would be a good idea. They probably don't want to scare customers away... My $.02, no sale is better than someone that regrets buying it.

I would add, how many trips to the hardware store?
How many parts were left over? I had a piece of hardware that came with an IKEA chair, and didn't show up on the instructions, so it didn't get used.
The chair is still in one piece. It makes me wonder and maybe it is a cruel joke perpetrated by some poor soul on the assembly line?

Approximate assembly time vary greatly from individual to individual

how un-capitalistic of you...trickery and dishonesty are the hallmarks of a good market driven system.
reminds me of the Dilbert quip:
"if it wasn't for billing errors we'd have no profits at all"
My guess is that is the motto of almost all public utilities and banks. They hope that 3,000,000 people all decide that it isn't worth it to spend 1/2 an hour on the phone to complain about a 1.75$ billing error - a nice 5.25 million dollar profit for nothing.
I always appreciate the twisted grammar and spelling that can be found on many instruction sheets. That generally adds to the assembly time.
Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.

Cold, stone sober for the entire seven hours. I did drink after I finished!!
The worst part was I had ALL the tools, no parts were missing, and I did not make any mistakes. Yes, I did carefully watch the video and read the instruction before assembly.
BUT SEVEN HOURS!!! WITHOUT ANY MISTAKES OR DO-OVERS!!
Actually, I would like another shed, however, I am headed to Costco to buy the floor model. If it is not for sale....I think I will pass and look for one with easy assembly.

Those instructions are typically written in assembly language. So it helps to be an old programmer.

Assembly Required- Manufacture suggests 3 people, 1-2 hours
It should be a little complicated than an IKEA coffee table.....but seven hours worth?? Looks like I was just one hour over the suggested time!!!
RiverLake I like the comment about "assembly language".....Since English is NOT my first language.
I just have my wife read the directions in "slow English" for me. She refused to touch this project. Should have been my first clue.

ARe you a 2-bit programmer, or a 64-bit programmer? 2-bit is inherently slow. 64-bit is massively parallel and you actually spend more time drinking beer than assembling things.
