Decided to spend a sunny day in the mountains, there were about a half dozen cars for the Phantom route. The air was cold, but no wind. Low cloud in the valleys made a very photogenic day.
Clear all around up higher:
We saw only two other skiers on the summit:

We opted to ski down the SE basin through a short, steep gully:
A sharp right above the Cave Ridge col and through deep soft snow took us back to the Phantom and back to our car. A beautiful day in the Cascades! More pics here.

Beautiful! I've been waiting for a nice sunny day winter trip report. I was yearning for the outdoors when working on the day you were up there. I figured it would be absolutely gorgeous in the mountains and looks like I was right! Superb photos as usual. Looks like a great day in the snow and sun! up.gif up.gif up.gif

Two really spectacular set of photos. Spent a lot of time poring over these. You're showing parts of that peak I've never appreciated in spite of probably 10 visits over the years.

Thanks for the great photos (both Kenji & Radka). While my hand recovers from surgery I'm trying not to be too jealous of all the good snow you guys are enjoying. Hopefully the good start to the season will continue into January. Until then, cut some pow for me, and keep posting here so I can live vicariously.
