Just trying to see if I can break a record for most number of trip reports to the same place on the same weekend! hockeygrin.gif Aside from the hellacious traffic jam and 5 hr drive home via Blewett, it was a beautiful day. I think the summit stay was longer than the actual hike. A nice day to chill in the sun. cool.gif I figured the balsamroot wasn't in full blooming meadows yet so I wisely stuck my macro lens in the pack. So here's a macro version of Sauer's flowers. Plus a few extras.

If you mean 8592, it's spring beauty, one of JimK's favorites.

Thanks all for your nice comments. I love the spring beauties, too but 8529 is another really common little flower that I just can't remember the name of. The picture makes them look big but they are really tiny (each cluster is maybe .5 to 1.5 inches). I thought they looked much cooler close up.
I'm sure you've seen them before.

All beautiful flower shots, gorgeous. I've not been there, guess I must go and soon. I'm taking a guess on naming the flower: Long-flowered blue-bell-Mertensia longiflora....

If the flower ID app is right. (why so many names)? sagebrush bluebells (I guess the common name) (prarie mertensia;Toiyabe bluebells) Mertensia oblongifolia I'll stick to the common name... lol.gif

Agreed - I must have "seen" it but definitely never "noticed" it. I'm looking for it this week. Thanks for all the beautiful pics!

you know, I looked through the pic 3 times, looking for 8529, and did not see it. I think this means I'm getting old.
