Been waiting for a nice day to head to Mt Persis, so when I heard Sunday was going to be nice, it was time to go. The road was free of snow so was able to drive all the way to the "Trail Head". I do recommend a vehicle with some ground clearance to go all the way.
If you haven't been up there, just look for a steep path up the bank about a 100 yards before the end of the road. The trail head is at about 2800' and remains steep until about 4300'.
The snow started at about 3700' and was pretty firm to the point where I didn't need the snow shoes that I carried all the way up and back. Early in the morning crampons where a good idea but not required.
After the trail levels out a bit you enter a nice opening with a view.
After the clearing you continue up through the thick trees and eventually walk by a small peak with a view of Persis.
You drop down about 150 feet then start a nice gradual climb up the last 500 feet, mostly out of the trees.
Great views on top and met another hiker, Tomak. We spent about 90 minutes on top taking pictures and had some good conversation on the way down.

Keep your fingers crossed for good weather next weekend.

Nice one for a sunny spring day. The views of Index from the summit are awesome.
