Inspired by a couple of recent trip reports, I decided to visit Mount Lillian South today, and a pleasant jaunt it was, too. I walked up Upper Tronsen Road, just east of Blewett Pass, to the Tronsen Meadow Trail, which I followed up to Haney Meadow. The trail was very icy, with only a few snow-free sections, so Yaktrax were in order. (I carried snowshoes and ice axe but never used them.) From Haney Meadow, I headed SW up through the ghost forest to the pimply knob above, then over to Mount Lillian South. There were great views from the summit but my stay was cut short by the cold breeze. I circled back to Haney Meadow and descended the trail and road back to the car (8.8 miles, 2400 ft gain, 4.5 hours round trip, GPS track).

up.gif Good views to be had from up there. I especially like the rock formation on the West of the ridge above the trees and the views off Windy Knob. up.gif
