The Kahler Glen golf course and condo/housing development at Lake Wenatchee is having some of the same problems and is only 18 miles from Leavenworth.

Chicken & egg. Bend was actually quite a bit like present day Cle Elum before the first resorts (Sun River, Black Butte) were built. Had Suncadia fka MountainStar been built in 1975, Cle Elum might look alot like Bend.

If only a 10,000 ft high volcano would erupt in the middle of Manatash Ridge and then just as quickly become dormant and stable. Then WA might be able to have a resort on par with Mt Batchelor for family ski vacations.

I've never understood the luv for boring Mt. Flat-chelor, which is kinda like Central fka Ski Acres only bigger. Alpental has lots of terrain way better than anything at Flat-chelor. Yeah, yeah, I know, if only Snoqualmie Pass were 1,000 higher.
FWIW, golf was a much bigger factor in Bend's ascendency to Poster Boy for the real estate bubble/crash.

"Alpensmall" may have better terrain, but it certainly doesn't have "lots" of it

Flatchelor = Ski Acres

Gawd, what a bunch of snobs.
Cle Elum was where we stopped to talk to a guy my dad worked with, to find out where the huckleberries were ready. The highway went through town, and we stopped at the bakery to get white bread because my dad thought it was good. Even then, they ran out of bread later in the day.
Cle Elum kind of had a hard time after the interstate was built.
Funny, I thought that resort was at Roslyn, not Cle Elum.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Well, since I live in Cle Elum I can tell you its youre typical double sided coin. The locals HATE Crapcadia at the same time the business owners love the fact they they can raise prices and the dummies at cadia will pay them. The locals wont, as we now shop in Ellensburg. If Suncadia dries up and blows away Ill be happy.

Welcome to rural Warshington, where we pay more for stuff that you'd better check the expiration date on.

or since they have six or seven figure incomes it isn't "worth" their time to drive around shopping for bargains. Classic gentrification problems.

If anyone is considering it, remember the common, association, and maintence fees can add a lot to the price. On the secondary market time share often sell for free if someone takes over the contract. Future inability of the resort is also a major concern. Buyer beware

Though I like Cle Elum, Suncadia is my idea of a quiet hell.
