40 minutes faster than Kyle Skaggs' 2008 time (which was the runaway winner for Ultrarunning! mag's performance of the year)

I just ran into a guy yesterday that mentioned this race. He told me it's 34,000' of cumulative gain over the course. Yikes!

Yup, and 34K' descent, too. They run it clockwise/counterclockwise in alternate years. A few friends are in this year's field.

Blows me away to think about Kilian's achievement from the point-of-view that anyone who lines up at Hardrock is pretty badass, and plenty of those don't even finish, and among those that DO finish the average time is over 40 hours.
