I'm looking at doing a four-day hike in the GPW next weekend.
I'm excited about some ideas for exploring/bushwacking around the northern portion of the wilderness, or a longer trail trek, perhaps including White Pass and environs.

I'm planning to climb Glacier Peak this weekend. Starting Friday afternoon from Seattle and hoping to get back there Sunday night (or early Monday morning).
I guess this doesn't strictly overlap with your plans, but in case it does maybe we could share the trip or its part.

Cool, nazgul. Thanks for the invite. An old friend just told me he wants to come for the first day/overnight, so I'm planning on doing that. If that pans out, we'll probably start for the pass a bit before you....I'm sure we'd at least see you on the way. I haven't been up there, but that Glacier Pk. approach looks sweet. I may head that way on Saturday and poke around. Keeping it fluid now that the friend will be along through Sat. morning.

Devinb, I could definitely use some company, always more cheerful and safer to go together.
I plan to drive from Seattle around 16:00, so hopefully start on the trail before 19:00 and make as much as possible until it gets dark to camp. I have plenty of room in the car, so it shouldn't be a problem.
I will send you more details in priv.
FiresideChats, sure, I guess we might meet on the road. If things go well I will be climbing to the summit Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning on that route http://www.summitpost.org/white-chuck-gerdine-cool-glaciers/166764

nazgul, interesting route. Are you following the White Pass/White Mountain approach as well, rather than the Red Pass approach?

Cool. I obviously prefer to make it to the pass on Friday, but it sounds like a party's brewing at the Mackinaw shelter.
I'm hoping to be scrambling around Portal and White on Sat a.m. If I don't see you, good luck on the big peak! (There's none of that theatre superstition in climbing, right?)

Yeah, I'm a bit worried about traffic on Friday from Seattle, so I may not be able to go long on that day. But I will try to make it to Mackinaw.
