Yeah, don't hike that old growth valley to swimmable lakes on hot summer days! That will give those of us who like such things a better shot at lakeshore swimming spots and nice camps tucked around the lakes
A few years ago, I went up to Surprise Lake on a good weather Saturday in early October as my first solo hike, figuring there would be plenty of other people on the trail. I didn't see ANYONE until I was almost at the lake! Lovely hike, and people were heading out with bags of chanterelles. October highly recommended.
