Best $500 I ever spent.
I spend the night parked along the road below the trail head for No Name Ridge (trail that goes to Thorp Mountain from the north). I had one little bar of Verizon 1x signal. So maybe I could get a text out if the wind was blowing right.
Turned on the cell phone booster and bam! 2 bars of 4G. I was watching youtube videos.
And the $15 upgraded antenna is noticeably better than the short one that comes with it.

Interesting. Remember the "old days" when you needed something like this on your car for the phone to work at all? I could use one at home as well. Middle of Seattle and there's almost no signal, go figure.

Ditto. At my place in West Seattle I barely have coverage with Verizon. I get much better coverage at Hobuck, Crystal, and many other more "remote" locations.

Last time at Miners Ridge Lookout they were installing one. Our T-mobile phone already got enough 4g to post.

people use Wilson boosters around here. need a signal to boost though. Have to mount them as high as possible. If you see people standing around under a pole with their phones that's what they're doing.

A lot of times, the carriers will offer some kind of box that you can get for free because you're extending their coverage area.
When I used Sprint they had something that would tunnel through your home internet to create a small cell that serviced up to five devices. Later they could zone in on a small dedicated signal from a nearby cell tower.

response to low signal in downtown seattle... you are probably under/below the cell towers thus out of their range and the surrounding buildings are probably blocking most of the signals. the ones you do get are probably from a cell tower farther away.
