Last minute but am heading out tomorrow to do Chikamin as an overnighter. Heading solo so if anyone is looking for something this weekend and wants to come along I'd be up for a partner.
My wife and I climbed Chikamin from Joe Lake on the weekend of Sept 13-14 and it went well. Couple of notes. The trail to Joe lake is easy to follow but quite steep for the last mile or so. There is water in several small tarns along the PCT at the saddle between Huckleberry and Chikamin. The summit of Chikamin is easy, but the summit rock is scrambled (look for boot path) from the ridge east. We had initially reached the ridge west of Chikamin and had to skirt the south side of the summit block (easy) and around to the east side. A camp at the tarns would be best. By camping at Joe Lake we had a long Sunday.
