I haven't been up Del Campo in summer/fall conditions in 9 years, so took advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday to get back up there. Sloan and Glacier Peak had some fresh snow from the storms earlier in the week. I forgot what a fun scramble DC is and in such a beautiful setting! Some pics attached...
Oh, and one complaint...someone has used orange spray paint (see last pic) to mark rocks on a completely obvious Weeden Creek Trail (complete with unnecessary cairns) from the second big waterfall you pass to the basin...people who do this have no business in the mountains...

I love that peak and the approach, one of my faves. It encompasses so many things to me which are classic about the Cascades wet side. The rooty rocky trail, the near rain forest at the bottom, the density and variety of mosses, heather, and wetside conifers. The peak is an awesome scramble in the midst of an ocean of jagged peaks, sloan, columbia and the rest all right there...nice pics!

That really sucks about the paint, especially there.
On the other hand, the old paint spots that marked the old trail up to the (now gone) lookout on top of Crater Mountain were quite useful. Another spot I've appreciated them are along the ridge beyond the Pilchuck lookout to you-know-where.

Nice photos!
I agree - Del Campo is great, any side, any season.
