Bedivere -- look at it from the Canon side. I want better shadow recovery and have no options from Canon. I would also like a decent mirrorless option for hiking lighter -- also no options. At least what you're looking for can be mitigated either by the D750 or by finding ways to live with the D7000 (e.g. choosing a smaller image size)! Cyclopath -- I'm also looking for a wider-than-24 mm astrophotography lens. I think I could live with 24 mm, but I haven't made a decision yet. I did just pick up a 16-35 F4, but I'm not sure that I want such a slow lens for the task. Even so, the two photos here (with a 35 mm F2 IS) were taken at F4:
