Well that sucks. Looks like both Paseo locations are closed for good, effective immediately:
Further digging yields this court document which indicates the owners were not paying their immigrant employees the overtime they worked: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7JWyDpBohCBQmMwLThDOVZCVEE/view

Never heard of it until I saw something on facebook, here and even on King 5 news. I guess it'was a big deal to many. Guess I don't get up to Seattle much... lol.gif

Will be interesting to see if more info comes out on why they closed and if the lawsuit/allegations were a factor. Note: closing the shop doesn't end the lawsuit. Never heard of the place but sure sounds good!

Now there is a campaign to raise $250,000 to buy it and rehire the old employees, pay them well and so on and so forth. $1,400 or so raised so far.

I guess Bill Gates or Paul Allen weren't regulars or they'd have raised a lot more... lol.gif

So per that article, they paid their employees well ($20-30/hour), gave them paid sick days and treated them well, had a great product, a loyal customer base, lines out the door, and they still went chapter 7 bankruptcy and have disgruntled employees suing them. The joys of owning a small business…

Some workers feel that they are being exploited no matter how good they have it. shakehead.gif

Chapter 7 is the death of a business assets are gathered, sold, and used to pay creditors. Debits must exceed assets to qualify as you must be insolvent. The debit must not be speculative or possible at the time of filing. This means there is something we are not being told. Businesses in temporary trouble do not apply for chapter 7 they go 11, reorganize, or make a bulk sale. The name and good will will be an asset that will be sold but there is no guarantee that the buyer will continue to make the same products.

Paying your employees that well, lines out the door, voted second best sandwich in the country...still won't take credit cards? Yeah, nothing suspicious there. (You can get Square for free with only a 2.75% processing charge, there's no excuse for any business to not take plastic, unless they are hiding something.)

Between the silence of the mountains and the crashing of the sea...
