THe first thing I noticed in K2 which was different was the way they handle their packs, like they are actually heavy

Despite being in the "Himalayas" or whatever, most of these B movies are photographed in Colorado or near Whistler. You can often spot familiar landmarks or at least regions. The scene often changes.

They shot K2 in Kashmir and BC, so there's some good eye candy.

K2 the movie sucked. What they did with the story would be the equivelent of having both of Sophie's kids miraculously surviving the concentration camps and showing up at the end of Sophie's Choice and everybody living happily ever after. An insipid happy ending.
The whole point of K2 ( the original story) was about the hard choices you make when climbing big mountains and the loss of life that it entails - and that it isn't always the guy who deserves it that dies.
In K2 the movie when the helicopters come to the rescue I booed loudly...and got a lot of nasty looks in the theater.
I loved the stage play.
Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.

I struck out trying to find High Ice online. Maybe it's paywalled up somewhere, but a googling via iPhone turned up only dead links and fake sites.
