A few of mine:
  • Workout (lift) Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Run my usual five miles every Tuesday and Thursday
  • Become and early bird and start waking up at 6:00 a.m. regularly
  • Limit caffeine intake to one drink every day
  • Post more Partners ads and Trip Reports on nwhikers

Pain is just weakness leaving the body.

Get up 15 minutes earlier so I have time for a short workout before work. (I already get up at 4:30, 4:15 shouldn't be that much harder) Keep chipping away at regaining my conditioning/strength. With any luck I'll be able to run 3 miles again by the end of January. Get back down to 170 lbs. Get several home improvement projects done this year. This means less hiking, unfortunately, but given that I put projects off to hike 3 out of 4 weekends all summer last year I guess it all evens out in the end. Summit and ski Mt. Baker Summit and Ski Glacier Peak --This leaves only Rainer as a WA volcano I havent' skied off the top of.

Same here! Not easy, is it? But from larding it at 210 the winter before last, I've managed to drop to 170 some good mornings. Of course summer backpack trips allow me to eat like a snuffling hog.

Nope, and I'm coming down from a peak of 195 but seem to be stuck fast between 180-185. Just can't seem to break through that 180 barrier. Hopefully running more consistently and longer will really help.

For me it will to be to: Get out even more. Do more overnight trips (alone or with my younger son) lose about 15lbs (I could lose more but 15 would be great to start with) For hiking, I want to hit more of the northern part of the Olympics and also hit the Enchanted Valley Chalet and hike up the Hoh to Mt. Olympus. I would also like to finally do some trails in the north cascades and down near Mt. Adams. Also hope to visit my BiL and go camping/hiking in Shenandoah NP.

Off topic, so my apologies. Weight loss is a weighty issue to many so I'll put my oar into unasked for waters, so to speak. I'm an old fart and weight loss for us old farts is more difficult than for you young farts...I insist that the aforementioned is true. Here is what works for me and what I've found to work for me...your mileage may vary. Food intake is what does it. Exercise helps but only if you get the heart rate up for an extended period. Do this: Weigh thyself in the morning as you awaken in thine nudity and set thine weight in memory. At the end of the day, before sleep, weigh thyseff again in nudity. The increase is the sum of what you did and ate. No need to count calories or join up with Jenny Craig and drop weight in the wallet. Now you know what you've gained doing what you do. About a pound or two is lost in sleep. Do the weighing both morn and night and you've got a scientific correlation between what you did in the day and your goals. Am I being annoying? Too bad fatso! moon.gif

So was I....but kept up with the "move more, eat less" bit, and finally hit 168-ish this spring. And for the most part, have stayed there. Was up to around 195+ in spring 2012, and started the gym/stairs/rock gym in preparation for a Mt Rainier climb and that's what worked for me. The necessary change was mostly all in my head: a comment that a friend made some years ago has stayed with me: "I eat to live, not live to eat". Good success to you. Go slow and don't fret over the numerical values, just do well.
