Headed on an out-and-back up the Observation Trail to Observation Peak yesterday. This hike is north of Carson about 15 miles north of the Columbia River. Sunny with a light breeze at the summit, though high clouds presaging today's rain were working their way in. A few other people up there, some of whom came in from the "back" side. In other words, that road is open for those who want the shorter hike to the summit. About 11 miles RT and 3000' EG from the Trapper Ck Wilderness trailhead at Government Mineral Spings area.
There was one patch of icy snow - maybe 10 feet long, where the trail goes behind the peak, on the way to this 4207' summit. I took my Kahtoolas but did not need them.
About 2 miles up is a series of waterfalls, including this one. Another multi-tiered falls gets mostly hidden by growth in the green season
Nice tr Mr. Dean. Sad to say I've never been there maybe this week?
Was on Ph.org last night saw Don Nelson and retired Jerry are Famous. As expected humble responses. I miss Jerry and I harassing each other about Vancouver and Portland.
Jerry, Pedder and Don always seemed to see through my well what ever you want to call it for what was underneath.
I have the utmost respect for these three that are very good at what they do.
