I was noticing over President's Day weekend that the Indian Plum, Salmonberry, coltsfoot and the native Yellow Violet have started blooming. Non native plants I've seen blooming have been crocus, daffodils, flowering cherry trees and other flowers I saw but can't remember the name of....grocery stores usually start selling them about now.

Ticks running wild at my place. Did more yard work on Sunday, pulled 4 off me. That's my sign of spring. It's spelled ICK.

Dandylinus Horriblus

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

Daffodils sprouting in West Seattle. Also coyotes hunting the neighborhoods and the owl in the greenbelt across the street is being very vocal in the mornings.

The frogs in our neighborhood are deafening at night! We have several ponds around. It's not an annoying sound--almost soothing, but very loud!

MtnGoat, I see you live in Lyle, but still what's with all those ticks? What kind of plants do you have growing in your yard?

Waiting for that first Sawtooth/Methow Trip Report of the year from Wildernessed...seriously. (Kind of like buzzards returning to carrion huh.gif ) Oops, didn't mean to compare the Sawtooths to roadkill. up.gif

Just the usual, ponderosa pine, scrub oak, lawn, a few ornamentals and fruit trees, and some poison oak. I'd never seen more than a tick a year at best before moving here, but they're everywhere here. Seems to be the climate and vegetation for sure

We have humming birds, daffodils, plum blossoms, camealias, and crocus. The other day I saw a slug hanging off a string of slime. suuure.gif

We have Anna's Hummingbirds year-round. I have not yet seen a Rufous Hummingbird.

evergreen clematis is blooming in my front yard. I remail skeptical of an early spring despite all the signs. My cat still has very thick fir and shows no sign of shedding yet. I'm hopeful that we'll get socked with a terrific late season snowfall as the Cascades are not snowpacked enough to provide bountiful summer water. Keeping my fingers crossed...... cool.gif
