No. The farmers need this system to work their crops. |

Yes. The crops get all cornfused when the time leaps and falls about. Even weeds get befuddled. |

It's 9:20AM, or it is 8:20AM? Should Daylight Savings Time be abolished?

I'd rather have us stay on Daylight time year around. Of course, that option isn't in the poll. DST is actually closer to "sun time" here because we're in the eastern part of the Pacific Time Zone.
I like that extra daylight in the evening, but I HATE changing clocks! Whatever we do, let's get rid of the time change.

I agree, but I know that would leave mid-winter mornings unrealistically dark. I am satisfied with the current boundaries of DST as a good compromise.
Seems to me like the two jumps each year are a small inconvenience in order to distribute the light where it's most useful and needed.
Regardless, today I will celebrate one of the best holidays of the year!

No one said it was a longer blanket - just better positioned.

I'd like to see permanent daylight savings time combined with later start times for work in the winter months, plus a reduced work week with higher wages; sort of like the 6 hour workdays currently being introduced in Sweden.
More likely we'll continue transitioning to the "karoshi" system where people frequently overwork themselves to death.

Whether it is daylight savings or not, I wish we could just pick one and stick with it.

humans want to meddle with everything, usually with bad results.

Humans are quite free to fool with time measured in hours as it as artificial construct for our own convenience.
When I had kids playing spring sports I loved daylight savings time. No more ball practices stretched into the gloom trying to get ten more minutes. For this alone I think it is worth it.
Besides twice a year it gives people something to talk about besides the weather.

I used to work as a programmer for systems that had to account for DST. The worst was when congress made a decision to change the date of the start/stop time with very little lead time. It required a lot of extra work to make sure that thousands of systems were updated with the new timetable because of course it doesn't follow a regular pattern.

Get rid of it, it's completely outdated and all it does now is screw with our schedules twice a year!

It's funny how the abolish crowd is always worked up after the spring forward - but nobody seems to complain about sleeping in the extra hour in the fall.
You'd think that one hour's lost sleep was going to bring about the fall of western civilization. (Or you could have just gone to bed an hour earlier last night.)
