A topic I haven't heard about for awhile.
How's your car, truck or SUV?

My '99 Toyota 4-Runner sleeps me very well also. I bought it for car camping, etc back in '98.

I slept many a night in my old Explorer when I had it. Good times
Been driving a Town & Country minivan since 2010. Hot & sexy? No. But it does have three TV's and and tons of room (mine has Stow & Go seats in middle row, so it is flat).

When we bought our 4Runner that was a major consideration, folks looked oddly at use when we tested it out in Bellevue. Only used it a couple times though fogs up the windows.

Like any what's the best thread, it's whatever the responder owns.
I currently own a Honda CRV and a Subaru Outback.
Honestly I've never slept in either vehicle so I can't say.. I suspect the Outback might be a bit better....

I have an Outback now, Xterra before that. The Xterra slept 2 confortably. The Outback would probably be a bit more snug for 2, I've only slept back there by myself. The Xterra had much better headroom for sitting up when in-car camping.
The key is to put some screen material over your windows and roll them down.

Our outback's rear seats don't lay down flat so you won't have a flat bed back there. To me that's a dealbreaker for sleeping, but some folks don't seem to mind. So just to be contrary, my car sucks for sleeping .

It should lay down flat if you take the bottom seat section out by unlatching and removing - storing. Put it back when needed. That's what I would do with my 88 Nissan Maxima wagon. Most of those Japanese cars seem to look and work the same.

Diesel Jetta waggon. I'm 5'10 i can lay down in the back with room to spare and it gets 50+ miles per gallon.
Only disadvantage is it can't go down the worst forest service roads.
