I was thinking of visiting my old fire lookout, about 25 mi n. of Mt. Rainier on Thurs. I'm in S. Seattle. Will furnish transportation if you can get south of the ship canal (I'm near Georgetown). It's an undemanding hike unless there is a lot of snow (purpose of trip is to see how much) so I would recommend snow boots and gaiters. View of Seattle if the air pollution permits. Send me a PM.

Your old fire lookout? Were you a lookout there? Let us know. I spent 5 summers refurbishing the lookout and would like to hear any stories or anecdotes. thanks....wish I could go with....

Are you the Bob who did the windows, &c. and works at SPL? If so, we met at the dedication ceremony a few years back. My only "news" is that my "hippie-hobo" memoir is (finally) about to be published and does have a brief description of my summer tour of duty in 1968. BTW, there is another ex-lookout who worked on Kelly who has posted stories on one of the other hiking websites. I think he also worked on Suntop.

If all goes as planned (hah!) maybe I'll have it by June. You can send me a reminder if you want, although I am not claiming it as my generation's Dharma Bums. Or send me a PM and I can give you more information? (I don't want to get off topic re: Kelly Butte.)
