Which old movie -- from the 1940s or thereabouts -- has the scene where a gangster puts a pistol to another guy's gut and says "suck on this!" before pulling the trigger? It's not Taxi Driver, which is from the 1990s and comes up in Google and IMDB searches. I saw this scene in a much older movie, from the 1940s or 1930s, or so. Like a James Cagney movie, but it's not him. So what's the title?

It would have to be an Edward G Robinson movie like "Little Caesar" but web searches don't come up with much on that particular quote except for "Taxi Driver". So perhaps the exact words are a bit different? Edward G was a hell of an actor!

A quick google search easily answers your question. No, I've done a Google search and it doesn't answer the question. It isn't Taxi Driver, but a movie several decades earlier. Like in the 1940s era. But if you know the answer, what is it, GI?

40's and not 30's? Doesn't sound like an Edward G Robinson movie then.

I find it weird that a Google search finds this: http://www.bikeforums.net/foo/1003513-suck-old-movie.html The OP is basically a word for word quote of that post. --Gray

I still think it sounds more like a Richard Widmark line than Edward G. Robinson, but that's just me.

"I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach. I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each."

Never thought of him as the gangster type. And don't remember him in any gangster movies. Guess I'll have to go look him up and get his list of credits.

Widmark was a bad guy's bad guy - played the sociopathic psychopath really well when he was pushing old ladies in wheelchairs down the stairs.
