Woke and realized I forgot to pick up coffee last night. Went to truck. Truck was stolen (from a "secure" parking garage. mad.gif ) Filed police report. Walking to Starbucks. Sigh.

No coffee? That's awful! (Hope the truck comes back intact)

Yea. Probably would have been more tolerable if I had coffee. Upside- Met a neighbor while waiting for the police- she ran to starbucks and bought me a coffee!!! There are good folks out there. up.gif Why steel an old 1993 Blazer when there were plenty of new cars around...idiots. Officer said most times they find vehicle within half mile from where it was stolen. Decided to hop on the bike and cruise the area but...flat tire. Batting 100.

That is definitely a bad start to the day. I woke up on morning while living in CA, walked to my truck and it was gone. It had been towed because I hadn't licensed it due to being unable to pass CA emissions. They might have targeted you Blazer because it was 4wd...maybe they will find it out in the woods stuck somewhere. A co-worker had her car stolen out of the store parking lot, she was notified several months later that it had been found on the res. They had impounded the car and were unable to contact her right away. She ended up having to pay the tow bill and impound fee. That doesn't seem right...I have always believed that LE and the tow companies are in cahoots.

they like to steal older vehicles because they are easier to steal...especially if the thief is just a knucklehead kid looking for a joyride. Wouldn't think there is a big parts market for a '96 Blazer. My old '87 4-runner gets riffled through now and again - gotta scrape that Grateful Dead sticker off of it.

Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.

Badger You aren't very far fro m me, I'll keep my eyes open for your truck. You may, if you haven't already, want to notify the West Seattle Blog about the theft. I agree with coldrain, it might be just easier to steal older vehicles. I was told that was why so many older Hondas get stolen. Good luck.

our '95 subaru was stolen about a year ago. it was gone for about 2 weeks, then we got a call from the police. found it near cap hill. supposedly, 6/7 stolen vehicles in seattle are found. i suspect 2-4 weeks for most of them since that's probably the frequency of the parking police making their rounds in non-downtown areas. good luck.

On a Monday?? That's some harsh sh--t. Hopefully May will be better. My next door neighbor's 65 Ford pickup was stolen from So. Cal. Spent almost 10 years in Mex. Someone drives truck back across USA border, abandons it in Cali. , state patrol calls neighbor, he retrieves truck no worse for wear except for butt ugly black paint job which it still has 25 yards from whence I type this.

Well the average time to get car back is about 2-3 weeks. That being said I have decided to get another vehicle. If I remember correctly one of the most recommended cars here was the subby out back. I will start the search there. Have to be back to work Wednesday so tomorrow is going to be busy. No trade in though.... clown.gif Still hoping they find it soon.

Don't be like all the other lemmings around here, get yourself a Ford Escape, good vehicle and you will save $$$.

I've heard the same things from friends that had vehicles stolen. They always showed up somewhere else. Teen-age joyriders. I feel lucky that my car parked on the street for 30 years has never had a problem.
