I went there a number of years ago in May I believe. We stayed at Majestic Colonial, it was nice, an all inclusive resort and never left the grounds except once to go down to a local market.
I had fun snorkeling in the surf feeding the fishes. The beach sand is fine grained and white so it does not get to hot on the feet.
Funny you should ask; just got back from a conference and stayed at the Larimar now in Punta Cana. Also spent some time in Bayahibe and Santo Domingo. I really enjoyed the last 2 places and my kids loved the all inclusive resort; the last wasn`t my style but still fun. The people are welcoming, the beaches awesome and the capitol is a really cool, old historic place. PM me if you like....
