Matt Lemke and the Lewis brothers joined us yesterday for our climb of Reynolds Peak. Snow started along Reynolds Creek around 4200 feet. Half of us used crampons on the icy snow in the forest.

We made two log crossings and then came to the basin below parallel gullies. We climbed the right gully. For some reason Matt and Josh had decided not to bring snowshoes, but the rest of us wore them.

On the summit block we encountered steep loose scree/mud, and then above that more steep snow. Matt beat us all to the summit by at least 20 minutes. The rock was exposed class 3 with potential 4 moves. There were a few sketchy areas where we had to transition back and forth between very steep snow and rock.

Sweet. I've tried to make it to Reynolds twice and was shut out by fire both times. Spring looks like the way to go.

Thanks for taking us gimpilator. Aside from knee pain the climb was really cool. The scramble was a little icy but the views were killer. It was a real fun glissade on the descent too. Matt Lemke took us home.

It was a great first snowshoe adventure! Thanks for humoring my need to do a Bulger stat!
