I headed up to Sunrise via the Wonderland trail out of the White River Campground.
A few blow downs on the trail on the way up. Hit snow in the trees about 5400’.
It was still a little slick in the morning and I put my spikes on at this time.
I broke out of the trees and hit the service road to find it plowed. As I went around the corner I found a bare and dry lot. It appears the entire road up to Sunrise is clear. The building entrances have been mostly cleared. The composting restrooms were unlocked. It’s a shame we have to wait another month before they open the road.
Put on the snowshoes and got to snowshoe Sunrise for the first time!
I wandered around for a while nearly making it to Frozen Lake while being cautious of some cornices. I then went back down to the service road and went over near the Sunrise Campground and Shadow Lake.
I ended the day going back down the Wonderland, returning to the car.
It was a gorgeous day to be out! I can’t wait to get out again.
