I just got a new laptop with Windows 8.1 installed. I'm wondering if there is a way to preselect where different file types get imported to? In Win 7 I could send video files to one location and photos to another. Can I do this in Win 8.1?

Control Panel - Autoplay. Or click on the charms bar (right side of screen in desktop mode) and click search and type autoplay.

Maybe I'm missing something, but all I can tell is that Autoplay says what to do with a particular thing, like what to do when I insert a memory card. I want to be able to separate my imported file types to go to different locations. In Win 7 I could send all photos to the folder d:Photos/2015/ and video files I could end to e:Rawcamcorderfiles/ Can i do that in Win 8.1?

The easiest way to do that is to set your "Pictures" folder to whatever location you want it to be, and do the same with your "Videos" folder. To do that, open up File Explorer (Windows Key + E) and right click on "Pictures". Click the "Location" tab and set the location to wherever you want. Do the same for "Videos". Then all you have to do is open up Autoplay and have it import photos to your "Pictures" folder and videos to your "Videos" folder. As far as I'm aware, that's the exact same process it was on Windows 7.
