Just to let nwhikers.net readers know, the "new" trail up Mailbox Peak was not build by WTA as stated by the Angry Hiker. It was built by volunteers from the "Mountains to Sound Greenway" along with the DNR. The construction of the new trail began Saturday June 2, 2012. You can check out their website at: www.mtsgreenway.org for information of up coming trail projects along the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Road in conjunction with the DNR. It was MSG not WTA who helped build to new trail. So the Angry Hiker's comments about WTA building the new trail are incorrect.

First time posters like that are generally some regular creating another account to do such a thing because they are afraid to say what they really feel on their established account.. Of course the admins likely know as they can see the IP addresses of all posters and unless the hit and run poster was into hiding their IP address it isn't a secret to them who it really is...

You're just jealous because I'm at the top of Mailbox sitting in my bathtub.

An AH TR is an event. As such, it has made the rounds of a couple local-area hiking pages on Facebook. At least one poster there claimed to have created an NWH account solely to chastise the AH for being, well, the AH... shakehead.gif

But that was back before Mailbox Peak was emasculated by the WTA in it’s endless quest to turn every hike into Mount Frigging Si.

Good catch. I'm usually a stickler about that, too. I'm going to have to start stabbing myself in the leg with a fork for every typo again.

Actually, we should be encouraging the crowds to stay on Mount Si. Let them have it. They can pound it into the ground for all I care. The more pressure Si takes for the team, the less wads of toilet paper I have to look at on every other I-90 hike.

I've concluded that the "build more trails to disperse the crowds" theory doesn't work. Close-in trails work like freeways -- you build one and it soon fills to capacity because "it's not that crowded". Then it is.

The Angry Hiker sounds an awful lot like Quark. I have been wrong before though.

I have never known of Quark having a propensity for stabbing herself in the leg with a fork. Goofing on the apostrophes, maybe.... but the fork: no.

You're all wrong. I've heard from a reliable source whose name has been removed from my mind by nefarious methods that TAH is a Mounties trip leader of somewhat questionable repute. Astounding, I know. The questionable repute part, that is.

Grumpyhiker, That is by far...my favorite post and hike report EVER! Could not agree with you more on the desecration of Mailbox Peak. I keep praying to Almighty God that one day I get to see an eagle or hawk grab one of those pretty little poodles from its suburban yuppie owner.
