My girlfriend got a flame-point Siamese recently, after wanting one her entire life. I didn't plan to like him, but he didn't give me a choice. Before we even got him home he was my little buddy. I checked on him yesterday morning while I was getting ready for work. Saw him move, so I picked him up; instead of purring he went limp and bled all over me. Then we realized he wasn't breathing any more. I wasn't even going to like him and my heart shattered into a million pieces. His life was so short, he didn't even get a name. He was just "Kitten." I have a lot of great landscapes showing beautiful Cascade valleys, hanging glaciers, long sinewy waterfalls, of Sahale Peak and Dragontail and larches in October and Stehekin from the boat home, etc. None of them are as important to me as the few of Kitten. I never even got to say goodbye. Don't just use your camera on the trail, you need it at home too.

Animals are so innocent, absent of malice. It is very hard not to develop deep feelings. So sorry for you and your girlfriend. Don't give up, try again.

My condolences, that is a truly sad tale. I treasure my photos of deceased pets; the memory is a fickle thing, yet a photo can last forever and sustain memories that otherwise might otherwise fade or be lost to us.

I'm sorry to hear this Forrest. Pets make such an impact on our lives, no matter how long they are in it. What may seem like a short amount of time to us, is a lifetime to them.

Oh no, that is so sad. frown.gif I am so sorry that you had to experience that. But you are so right, you two have some absolutely beautiful photos of Kitten to remember his short life with. He was adorable.

She went to sleep today, never to awaken again. It hurt like nothing ever should. Sorry about your loss and you're so right about photography.
