Mr. Dickerman takes his daughter up the now-called Mountain Loop Highway,
just a week or so after the railroad was completed. From a September 1893 Everett Herald.
They go where no woman has gone before.
^I assume they decided to summit Mt. Dickerman. Reading this reminded me of the vision for Stevens Pass and what it's become with US2. It's a shame that Barlow Pass and the railroad couldn't have gained more momentum coming into the turn of the century. Mountain Loop held high promises similar to what US2 has flourished into. Obviously Stevens Pass is much vaster.
