TLake, If you could unfog your memory I would love to hear what you know. The database is only as good as what was entered. And back in the mid 90's....
Anyway anything would help.

Between you and Kevin, what's with the dismissive attitude? If the authorities thought this case was a slam dunk, they wouldn't ask the public for help. Tlake's recollection could be quite helpful. Perhaps not. Either way, what's the harm in contacting the tip line?

Hikermike when a forensic anthropologist is determining the age, height, ect.. its always a plus or minus game. Unless you can pin down those numbers conclusively its always better to have a large plus or minus so you don't unnecessarily exclude the person your looking for. The remains after 20 something years of exposure will only be partial making precision much harder. 30-60 should be read 45 +- 15 years. 5.7-6 feet tall should be read 5.9 and 1/2 +- 2 1/2. Sure the guy was unlikely to have been 5.7, but its not impossible that he was.

Not necessarily. The NCIC has maintained a Missing Person File since 1975. The ability to match found remains with a reported missing person depends, of course, on the quality of the initial investigation but also on the available information. The system can collect a wide range of identifiers put only if the reporting party can answer the questions or can direct the investigator to someone who can.
There are also plenty of people who are pretty much alone in the world. If they disappear there may be no one who feels obligated to report it.

That is certainly true -- but it seems like in this case their car have been left in the Mt Si Parking lot?
After while the car would get impounded. Perhaps if the registration doesn't match any missing persons report, no further investigation is made.
Or the only person that might have reported them missing -- gave them a little push...

I'd bet a whole paycheck that the law enforcement investigating this will consider and have access to any missing person files that made the local news in the 90s.
If it was hey remember that guy visiting your roommate in the 90s that was from Florida? How he said he was going for a hike in Febuary and never came back? Did anyone report him missing?
There is no need to waste law enforcement time. The issues with missing person databases are mostly issues across jurisdictions and states.
But thanks again for pointing out more innapropriate postings.

When was the new trailhead opened? If the body has been up there since the 90's, could he have parked at the OLD Si trailhead? On an average summer weekend, that lot fills up and people park blocks away and hoof-it up the road to the trail head. So if he drove, the car could've been left anywhere.
Anyway, that's my contribution to the Mike Hammer Amateur Hour.

Yeah, if he drove. One could check for vehicles towed with a certain radius of the trailhead, winnow out the vehicles that were not redeemed, and check the status of their owners. It is unlikely that 25-year-old vehicle impound records are available for study, however.

New trailhead opened in the early 70's the area around lower old trail and Little Si was clear cut and impassable for at least a decade. Access to Little Si was by trespass from the river in the 1980s used mostly by climbers for practice. In the 1990s DNR got access from the river and Little Si trail built Old Si Trail was reopened. Around 2000 present parking lot opened and river access shut off. Cliffs on Little Si bolted around then.
